Let’s start with a little scenario: Karen wanted to get in shape so got her gym membership down the street for $60 a month, she went for a solid 2 weeks on the eliptical, a little too intimidated to try the other machines other than the inner thigh one she saw a bunch of the other ladies doing. Life got busy, work got more demanding, kids needed rides to sports, and the Karen was left paying the reoccurring $60 a month…it’s now been 1 full year. Karen has spent about $720 for a 2 week gym spree that left her with little to no results. Karen always thinks to herself “Well if I just keep the membership then I can use it when I want”… (Which she hasn’t). (Ask your current Trainer or favorite Instagram Trainer if they have Online Programs, which most of them do). If I you choose to hire an Online Trainer you must first decide on your fitness goals and tell your Trainer exactly this. Just like in person training, online training is designed just for YOU. You might be asking yourself “Well where’s the accountability I need that I get from my Trainer at the gym?” Good question, if you hire an experienced online Trainer they will tell you the accountability is there, perhaps even more so than when you train in person. Why? Because unlike in person training where you only see your trainer 2-3x a week with “homework” they tell you to do on your own (that you most likely loosely follow), Online training gives you DAILY workouts in which you must check off as well as link your fitness watch so your trainer knows you’ve actually done the workout. What happens if you don’t? Your trainer sends you subtle or not-so-subtle reminders through the 24/7 messaging feature in the app. There’s really no getting around it. Another question you might have is “How do I know I’m doing the exercise correctly?” Again, experienced online Trainers have short clips of them showing you and guiding you on how to perform each exercise with proper form and technique. They will tell you exactly what weights to use and how many times to do them. Don’t forget about the 24/7 messaging feature in which you can ask your trainer ANYTHING, that’s what they’re there for and that’s what you hired them for.
