Ditch the Take Out and Save $100+ Per Week with HEALTHY Eats

Okay, so you’re wanting to get into a healthy eating routine but you check your bank account and think “There’s no way I can afford to eat healthy” so you might go out and get some take out food, again.

Now here’s a little challenge I ask you to do, right now. Take a look at your bank account and just go back 1 week from today. Itemize all the take out foods on a separate piece of paper and list each meal along with their price.

If you are spending more than $200 a week on food for yourself, KEEP READING!

What if I told you there’s a specific plan on how to eat healthy and cut this weekly food spending IN HALF? Think about all the other ways you could be spending or saving that extra cash and even more, saving extra calories!

Listen closely, in order to eat HEALTHY and SAVE at the same time, it’s all about planning. Just as you plan your daily schedule, your work presentation, your Monthly finances..there needs to be a plan of action just the same for your meals.

Start by planning out your entire list of meals and snacks for the week on a piece of paper. Write down breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks for each day. My one bit of advice for planning is to NOT OVERCOMPLICATE your meals. Think: Meat (or vegetarian source of protein) and veggies for each meal. For example, my dinner might be a piece of chicken breast with light seasoning and a side of steamed broccoli. And no, you don’t need to get all Martha Stewart up in the kitchen. The easier, the better. Go on Pinterest and search “Quick and Healthy Recipes”. They are all there for your choosing and convenience.

Next, once you’ve written down all your meals for that week write down all of the ingredients you will need on a separate piece of paper. After this step, go into your fridge and pantry and see what you already have down to the condiments you need. The biggest mistake here is buying things you already have which is essentially flushing money down the drain.

On that same list, scratch off all of the ingredients you already have in your kitchen, this will now be your grocery list.

Time to head to the grocery store and execute this detailed plan of action, Mission Impossible style. Go right for what you need for each meal and DO NOT STRAY. Most of the time we are overspending at the grocery store because we have no idea what we actually need and are buying on impulse. The grocery store is actually designed for impulse buying which is why having your plan of action will best help you stick with what you need.

Now that you have all the food you will need for your meals/snacks throughout the week you are set for an amazing week of healthy eats and money saving. Sticking to this meal plan will not only save you loads of money in the long haul but it will also save you from all those extra calories spent on take out food. Your wallet AND body will thank you!
